SUMMARY OF FUNCTION:

The level II injection moulding technician prints the work orders for each machine according to the IQMS daily schedule, ensures the transfer of information between the Tools Room, Material Preparation and Production departments, and ensures the proper operation of the machines and auxiliary equipment.

Ensures compliance with quality standards and identifies mould defects by discussing them with superiors.

Performs tasks related to maintaining a clean, safe working environment and ensures that resin requirements for machines are monitored and maintained.

Installs and uninstalls moulds correctly and connects peripherals.

Performs tests for repaired moulds.

Fills out daily production reports and arranges for layout in the IQMS.

Maintains cycle times; adjusts times and explains deviations, if necessary.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by following established company policies and procedures.
  • Hanging and removing moulds on plastic injection moulding machines.
  • Connect the cooling circuits according to the cooling chart.
  • Connect the mould heating units if required.
  • Connect the switch limits for mould safety if required.
  • Connect hydraulic or pneumatic cores if required.
  • Enter the injection parameters for each mould installed.
  • Fill out the forms and forms for each mould installed or removed.
  • Carefully follow the instructions of the level III injection moulding technician, assist if necessary.
  • Report any safety, operational or quality problems to the level III injection moulding technician or person in charge.
  • Ensure that all machinery and equipment in production under your direct control is operating properly to minimize damage and downtime.
  • Participate in all training sessions and meetings as required.
  • Participate in the corrective action process in the event of non-compliance.
  • Visually inspect the parts produced at the beginning of each shift.
  • Detect any contamination of the parts or any other obvious visual defect and correct the defect.
  • Check material dryers and hoppers for clean and properly filled material at the beginning of each shift.
  • Clean dryer and loader filters if the floor person is not available.
  • Make sure that workshop safety and cleanliness procedures are followed and maintained.
  • Assist and train new Level I and II technicians whenever necessary.
  • Adjusts secondary operations as required.
  • Assists as a material handler as required.
  • Ensures that assembly procedures are followed and that careful adjustments are made, if necessary.
  • Optimize machine cycle time and mould changeover time.
  • Check "pre-production parts" before submitting them to the quality department.
  • Ensure that safety rules are respected and maintained in the factory.
  • Be aware of, understand and adhere to the company's core values of accuracy, respect, importance and credibility.
  • Know and respect the company's quality policies and objectives.
  • Promote a safe and clean work environment by following the company's established policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all parts produced meet or exceed customer and company quality standards.
  • Layered Process Auditing (LPA).
  • Required to occasionally work an alternate shift to achieve business requirements.
  • Perform additional tasks as determined by the supervisor.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

High school, technical vocational training that is appropriate for the position.
Or equivalent experience as judged by the hiring manager to their satisfaction.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

3 to 5 years’ experience in a similar position or have equivalent training.

Basic knowledge of plastic raw material and proper handling and drying procedures. Understand the technical data sheets of the raw materials in relation to the technical data sheets of the moulds. Be able to operate all machines in the moulding department. Be able to understand and apply the inspection procedures as defined in the inspection plans.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to be registered with Canada’s Controlled Goods Program. This involves a criminal background check conducted by an authorized third party.
